HONKANUMMI

Our cottage, located in Honkanummi, Kuusjoki – near the city of Salo used to function as our family’s summer- and weekend home. After a few years of driving between Vantaa and Kuusjoki, Road 1 started to feel rather too familiar. In October 2008, we decided to make our long-standing dream true and move to the countryside for good. It didn’t take us long to sell our house in the city and pack our bags and thus, permanently move to Honkanummi. After that it was just a matter of getting the lines sorted out so we could get our computers functioning and start working remotely. In the spring of 2009, we can finally start working on the expansion of our house, now that we have all the permits and everything.

The days literally fly by pottering around with our dogs. Jarkko also builds all sorts of things – as the pdf-photos below will tell you. All of our wooden structures – the patios, steps and even the piers – were hand-crafted by Jarkko and our dear friend Viljo. Gardening is also one of the more pleasant – and also one of the heaviest things we do around the cottage. Everyone who's ever tried to dig a flower-bed into stone-hard clay, knows what I mean...

We, of course, have a lot of visits from our wonderful friends. That's when we heat up our sauna and ‘jacuzzi', a bath tub that's got a record of eight people sitting in it at the same. We've also thought of all kinds of random food recipes: such as the Pizza with Pickerel and the Mid Summer's Ham :)
